According to the "Chengdu Release" public account, recently,The AE200 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) airworthiness technology verification aircraft developed by Wofei Changkong, a company in the Chengdu High-tech Zone, successfully completed its first flight. The research and development work of the flying car AE200 project has entered a new stage, and eVTOL business aviation travel is expected to be the first to be implemented in Chengdu in the future.
According to reports,AE200 is the first manned eVTOL in the country to receive approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China for airworthiness certification.
This "flying car" looks more like a helicopter in appearance, with a wingspan of 14.5 meters, a height of 4.6 meters, and a length of 9 meters. The standard cockpit can carry 1 driver and 4 passengers, with a maximum range of 200 kilometers to 300 kilometers.
After eVTOL completes airworthiness certification, it is expected to be the first to launch eVTOL business aviation travel in Chengdu.
“In the future, the journey from the center of Chengdu to Tianfu International Airport will only take 15 minutes,” said Fei Lan, marketing director of Wofei Changkong.
According to reports, the AE200 uses new energy and supports vertical takeoff and landing. It does not need to rely on a civil airport runway. In theory, as long as there is a spacious enough land, the "flying car" can take off on the spot.
