MWC2024 opens today, and Samsung has decided to finally launch Galaxy Ring. The smart ring was first unveiled at the Galaxy S24 launch event, and now the Korean tech giant has finally shared more information about the ring with us.
The Galaxy Ring looks to be an excellent wearable device for those who don't like having a smartwatch strapped to their wrist. Samsung claims that the Galaxy Ring’s battery life is long because it doesn’t have many power-hungry parts like a screen and is just a smart ring that can track multiple metrics. However, Samsung Vice President Dr. Hon Pak was also vague about the battery life, saying only that the ring will last more than a few days.
Samsung also said it has been working to improve the battery life of the device ahead of its release later this year, and users can choose longer battery life or more features based on their needs.
Samsung talked about how the Galaxy Ring will offer "leading" sensors. Likewise, the company is tight-lipped about the types of sensors the ring will use, but did confirm how the sleep tracking feature will track heart rate, sleep latency, and nighttime movements. The ring will also provide a vitality score that measures your physical and mental readiness, as well as "booster cards" for preset health goals.
Other health-related features the Samsung Galaxy Ring will offer include fertility tracking in partnership with NatureCycles. The ring will also work with the Galaxy Watch, so if you want to wear both devices at the same time, there won't be any issues.
Samsung hasn't revealed a release date or pricing for the Galaxy Ring, but past rumors have suggested the Galaxy Ring could be released at its second Unpacked event in July or August this year. So our best hope is to wait for the event to arrive.
