A ransomware group claims to have breached Epic Games and stolen nearly 200GB of data. Ransomware gang Mogilevich (a relatively new gang) claims to have attacked Epic Games' servers and stolen 189GB of data, including emails, passwords, full names, payment information, source code, and more.
The stolen data plans were sold, but no price was mentioned, and the deadline was set for March 4.
Since the ransomware group has not provided any evidence to back up their claims, it's difficult to say whether they succeeded in stealing anything from Epic Games, and the company has yet to make an official statement on the matter.
However, for security reasons, we recommend that you create a password for your Epic Games account as soon as possible to protect your personal information and game assets.
The developer behind Fortnite is the latest gaming giant to be targeted by a ransomware gang. At the end of last year, Insomniac Games was hacked, and a variety of private data was made public, such as the personal information of current and former employees, the source code of multiple games, slides detailing future plans, and even an early version of "Marvel's Wolverine". Capcom was also the target of a ransomware attack a few years ago, with publicly available data showing a schedule for future games and more.
