According to energy market research company SNEResearch, global battery sales in the first half of this year totaled 431.8GWh, with a total sales volume of US$70.5 billion.Among them, CATL shipped 141GWh, accounting for 32.7%, and sales amounted to US$20.1 billion, accounting for 28.5%. Both data are far ahead.

Ranking second is LG New Energy, accounting for 16.5% of shipments and 16.2% of sales.

BYD ranked third, accounting for 11.3% of shipments and 9.3% of sales.

Two other Korean companies, SK Innovation and Samsung SDI, ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

If you look at battery shipments alone, CATL’s share exceeds that of all new energy companies in South Korea combined.

There are many reasons behind the success of CATL. First of all, CATL has strong R&D capabilities and innovative spirit. The company has more than 5,000 R&D personnel and more than 3,000 patents, and has established strategic partnerships with many well-known automobile manufacturers. Its products cover a variety of battery types such as lithium-ion batteries, lithium cobalt oxide, ternary materials, lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganate, etc., and can meet the needs of different customers. The safety, stability, energy density, cycle life and other aspects of its products have reached international leading levels.

Little knowledge: 1KWh = 1 kilowatt hour of electricity, 1GWh is 1 million kilowatt hours of electricity. In the first half of the year, CATL battery sales were 141GWh, enough to equip 2.13 million Tesla model 3 (66KWh version).
