Intel's Lunar Lake 8-core CPU has been spotted running in Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Book 5 Pro laptop, equipped with an ArcBattlemage "Xe2" iGPU. Momomo_US discovered the latest Intel Lunar Lake entry in the SiSoftwareSandra database.

This sample is very interesting because it runs on Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Book 5 Pro laptop, with the specific SKU number "NT940XGK-DSD". It is a follow-up to Samsung's existing GalaxyBook4 series and is equipped with Intel's Meteor Lake "Core Ultra" chip.

Let's start with the specs, the Intel Moon Lake CPU is listed as "Genuine Intel(R)00001.60GHz" and it has a total of 8 cores, consisting of four LionCove P-Cores and four Skymont E-Cores.

Since next-gen products are expected to eliminate SMT, we may only see 8 threads. The base clock is set at 1.6GHz, while the boost clock is at 2.8GHz, which is still very early clock speeds for this particular chip. In addition, the chip is equipped with 12MB L3 cache and 10MB L2 cache. Intel's 8-core Lunar Lake CPU has also run on Windows PCs before.

As for graphics, Intel's Lunar Lake CPU will use the next generation BattlemageXe2-LPG graphics architecture. The iGPU will be branded Arc series and equipped with 4 Xe cores or 64 vector engines with a total of 512 ALUs. The chip is clocked at 1.85GHz and has 8MB of secondary cache. The performance of the GPU is consistent with what we have seen previously with the Xe2-LPGi GPU.

The following are some features of LunarLakeCPU:

  • Designed for thin and light laptops

  • LionCoveP-Core and SkymontE-Core

  • Battlemage "Xe2-LPG" graphics processor architecture

  • 4+4 core configuration (MX series)

  • Up to 64 execution units

  • In-package LPDDR5x memory

  • NPU performance is up to 3 times faster than MeteorLake

  • Launch in late 2024, mass production in 2025

  • Early performance data shows that Intel Lunar Lake CPUs will deliver higher performance than Meteor Lake CPUs at a lower TDP. Coupled with an iGPU that is almost 2x faster, this will be a great testament to the laptop market that this chip is primarily aimed at. Intel Lunar Lake CPUs are expected to be available in limited quantities later this year, with more products expected to be available by early 2025.
