According to a statement posted by MGM Resorts on X (formerly Twitter) just before noon ET, the famed hotel and casino company was forced to shut down many of its systems due to "cybersecurity issues."

MGM posted a message on its homepage apologizing for the outage and providing concierge phone numbers for multiple locations, such as Aria, The Cosmopolitan, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, New York-New York and Vdara.

The problem isn't limited to MGM's Las Vegas locations. According to NBC10News in Philadelphia, MGM's Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City was also affected by the attack, but hotel representatives did not disclose the specific situation. According to PlayMichigan, MGM Grand Detroit Casino was also affected, with an X user posting that "all games are running" at the casino, but digital keys and MGM's rewards program are closed.

ABC13News Las Vegas confirmed the FBI is currently investigating and has been in contact with MGM since Sunday. Hotel guests were unable to use ATMs, buy food or use digital key cards, the outlet reported.

This morning, a post on X revealed that slot machines at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas were out of order. X account LasVegasLocally cited "insiders" in a post saying MGM Resorts was the victim of a ransomware attack, but this claim has not been confirmed. Another X user named Murphy posted a photo that he said was from the MGM Grand, where the slot machines were apparently also out of service.
