One of the new features of SmartTag2 is the so-called lost mode. The owner of SmartTag2 can enter his or her contact information. As long as the tag is lost, the person who picks up the tag can scan the tag with the NFC function of the mobile phone, and the tag will automatically display the owner's contact information.

The new compass view pinpoints the direction of your SmartTag2, making it easier to find your items. This feature is only available for UWB-enabled devices, such as the Galaxy SUltra series.

The new power-saving mode can extend the battery life to 700 days, double that of the previous generation SmartTag, while the normal mode can last 500 days, which is also half longer than before. Samsung didn't say what features the battery saver mode has, but said it's mainly for people who use the device to track items.

Along with the release of SmartTag2, the SmartThingsFind app has also been updated so that it now displays a full-screen map view and has a new interface. In addition, SmartTag2 can automatically sync with Galaxy phones when using the same Samsung account.

In addition, the application can also use Bluetooth LE, UWB and augmented reality technology to locate SmartTag2 devices through the phone camera.

Samsung is also committed to protecting user privacy. For example, if an unknown SmartTag device is tracking you, the SmartThingsFind app will send you an "Unknown Tag Alert" and you'll know someone has installed a tracking device on you. This is one way to prevent SmartTag from being abused.

Samsung SmartTag2 will be available globally on October 11 for $30.
