Theode Raadt today released OpenBSD 7.4, the 55th version of the open source BSD operating system project. OpenBSD 7.4 comes with a variety of improvements, from new kernel features to improved hardware support, security updates, AMD Zenbleed processing updates, and more. Here are some of the main highlights of the OpenBSD 7.4 update.

- Support for Dynamic Tracing (DT) and Utrace on AMD64 and i386OpenBSD.

- When running OpenBSD7.4 on Apple Silicon M1/M2 CPUs, allow deep idle states to be entered during idle loops and suspend, thus saving power consumption.

-Support PCIe controller on AppleM2Pro/MaxSoC.

- Allow AMDCPU microcode to be updated when newer patches are available.

-Workaround for AMDZenbleedCPUbug.

- Various SMP improvements.

- Updated DirectRenderingManager (DRM) graphics driver support based on upstream Linux 6.1.55 status.

- New drivers supporting various Qualcomm SoC features.

- Improved OpenBSD installer support for soft RAID disks.

- Enabled Indirect Branch Tracing (IBT) on x86_64 and Branch Target Identifier (BTI) on ARM64.
