Boeing Co's largest union said talks with the plane maker have been interrupted after the two sides failed to reach an agreement that might resolve the strike. No progress has been made on the pension issue and the company "will not engage in substantive engagement" on issues such as raising wages and accelerating wage increases, the International Association of Machinists and Aviation Workers said in a statement late Friday. The association said no further talks were currently scheduled.
The two sides are at odds over wages and other demands of the roughly 33,000 union members. Workers have been on strike since September 13, bringing the Boeing plant near Seattle to a standstill.
Workers hold protest signs outside a Boeing manufacturing plant during a strike in Renton, Washington, the United States, on September 13.
"We remain committed to rebuilding our relationship with our employees and negotiating in good faith with the hope of reaching an agreement as soon as possible," Boeing said in a statement after the talks. "We are ready to meet at any time."
