The e-commerce website giant Amazon began to provide password-less login options for accounts a year ago. Users can set a Passkey to replace the traditional account password. This not only improves security but also makes login more convenient. Amazon used multiple methods during the promotion to remind users that they could log in with a passkey, including as a default login option instead of using a password as the default login option.

One year later, more than 175 million Amazon customers worldwide have set up and used pass keys to log in. This number of users is truly shocking, and its promotion speed is much faster than that of Microsoft and Google.

Today, Amazon announced a comprehensive shift to password-less login. Amazon plans to gradually promote pass keys to all Amazon applications and services starting next year, allowing more users to log in directly using pass keys.

The pass key is generated and bound to the device. Login can be performed with the pass key. In order to improve security, Amazon, like most companies, uses additional digital verification, including PIN code, fingerprint recognition, face recognition, etc. The pass key can only be called after passing the identification.

This is equivalent to logging in through biometric verification on a bound device. This abandons the traditional password, which not only greatly improves the login speed, but also eliminates the need to worry about password leakage without a password.

Dave Treadwell, senior vice president of Amazon, said that while passwords will still exist for the foreseeable future, the new measures announced by Amazon are an exciting step in the right direction. Amazon is pleased to be an early adopter of this verification method and help realize Amazon's vision of a more secure, password-free Internet.
