Super Mario Bros. Miracle seems to be a huge success for Nintendo. Today, the company's European X account revealed that the newly released 2D platformer is now the fastest-selling Mario game ever in Europe in its first three days. In the latest UK weekly rankings, the game ranked second (behind "Marvel's Spider-Man 2"), behind the previously released "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Super Mario 3D All-Stars".
However, the ranking only counts sales at retail brick-and-mortar stores. Given the massive acceleration in digital sales, it would make sense for Super Mario Bros. Miracle to surpass both games in combined sales.
In Wccftech's game review written by Nathan Birch, "Super Mario Bros.: Miracle" received a high score of 9.5/10. When you enter this game, the first thing that may strike you is how beautiful the entire game looks. Nearly every route feels like a custom piece of art, with lush backgrounds and interesting details. From mountain peaks made of rock pipes to clouds that pile up like sundaes to cool glowing snow peaks and more, Mario's world has never looked more beautiful.
Each level feels fresh and new, and often features unique mechanics not found elsewhere in the game. Whether it's dodging dive-bombing birds, rolling over platforms that can only be jumped a limited number of times, singing red pipe piranhas, chasing nut-spitting prairie dogs, and more, each new route will test your skills in new ways.
The official game of "Super Mario Bros.: Miracle" is not only creative, but also provides a lot of solid platform basics. While the initial stages are relatively simple, later stages will test your timing, reflexes, and awareness. The Super Mario series has often been criticized for its placement of the game's difficulty curve, specifically the fact that the game doesn't become difficult until near the end, but that's not the case here.
It's certainly been a fruitful year for the Italian plumber, who also enjoyed unprecedented box office success with The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
