Bitauto released today the list of the top 10 countries in terms of global car sales in the first ten months of this year. The list shows,China sold a total of 18.0302 million cars in the first ten months, ranking first on the list, 4.5 million more than the second-placed United States, leading by a huge margin.

Moreover, China's new energy vehicle sales in the first ten months were 8.3555 million units, also ranking first in the world. The new energy penetration rate is as high as 46.3%, which is close to the sales volume of fuel vehicles.

Comparing other countries on the list, China's new energy penetration rate is unmatched. The new energy penetration rates of India, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Italy and other countries are only in single digits.

Although the penetration rate of new energy in the UK and France exceeds 20%,However, domestic car sales are relatively small, with cumulative sales of new energy vehicles reaching 453,100 and 369,400 respectively.

Second on the list is the United States, with cumulative car sales of 13.4976 million units in the first ten months of this year; however, the United States has more than 800 cars per 1,000 people, making it the country with the highest per capita car ownership rate in the world.

India ranks third on the list, with cumulative car sales of 4.2751 million units in the first ten months. But unlike the Chinese car market, the Indian car market is generally dominated by Indian Tata and Japanese cars, and Indians prefer small cars.

Japan, as a long-established automobile power, ranked fourth on the list with cumulative sales of 3.697 million vehicles in the first ten months. Japanese cars also prefer to choose gasoline-electric hybrid models, and the penetration rate of new energy sources is only 2.9%, which is far lower than that of major automobile countries such as the United States and Germany.

As for the fifth to tenth places on the list, they are Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy and other six countries.
