According to news on November 16, the cooperation between Samsung Electronics and BOE seems to have come to an end. According to Businesskorea, Samsung Electronics has removed BOE from its supply chain. BOE is Samsung’s LCD panel supplier and provided 10% of Samsung’s TV panels in the first quarter of 2023. However, in the third quarter of 2023, Samsung's Device Experience (DX) unit cut BOE out of its supply chain for TV and display panels.

In addition, it is reported that Samsung Electronics plans to sever ties with BOE in the medium to long term. Samsung's decision has already had a negative impact on BOE, which saw its market share decline in the third quarter. Market observers believe that Samsung Electronics' decision to cut ties with BOE and remove the company from its panel supply chain is related to the ongoing legal dispute between Samsung Display and BOE.

IT House noted that at the beginning of this year, Samsung Display launched an International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation against Chinese wholesalers, saying that these wholesalers used stolen patents and technology to manufacture and sell "clone" organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels. Although Samsung did not directly target BOE, the investigation continued to expand, and the ITC began to investigate BOE's transactions.

Months later, BOE responded by launching multiple lawsuits against various Samsung affiliates in China. In November, Samsung Display launched an ITC complaint directly against BOE for the first time since the conflict began.

According to industry insiders, Samsung Electronics hopes to strengthen cooperation with other suppliers, including LG, Sharp and AUO, possibly because Samsung Electronics feels that the conflict between its display unit and BOE has brought too many unstable and unpredictable factors to its supply chain.
