Today Videocardz released the official slideshow of AMD FidelityFXSuperResolution4 (FSR4).FSR4 is a machine learning-driven upscaling solution developed for AMD's RDNA4 architecture, focused on 4K upscaling, and designed to work with frame generation and Anti-Lag2.
RDNA4 uses the third generation AI acceleration core, which may be a requirement of FSR4.AMD also confirmed that FSR4 will only be available on the Radeon RX9070 series and in games that already support FSR3.1.
However, it is unclear why the 9070 series is specifically mentioned. I wonder if this means that the 9060 series lacks the necessary hardware, or that FSR4 does not support RDNA3. There are currently no answers to these questions.
However, AMD did confirm that FSR4 will be available for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is the only game to date to officially announce support for the technology.
In addition to FSR4, Nvidia is also expected to release DLSS4 at CES, and it is currently not confirmed whether this technology supports older hardware.
