Energizer is the most famous battery manufacturer in the United States. However, over the years, Energizer Holdings has licensed the brand to French company Avenir Telecom to produce various other products. Its most recent new product is an affordable low-end laptop sold under the Energizer brand.
Energizer, one of the world's largest battery brands, will soon expand its product lineup with the launch of a series of portable computers called "EnergyBook Classic." French company Avenir Telecom recently announced the new device at CES, explaining that the company hopes to provide a broad range of users with an easy-to-use, affordable and durable PC system. The EnergyBook Classic laptop is aimed at students, casual users, and even professionals, although its hardware specs aren't exactly stellar.
Avenir has developed two EnergyBooks: the first has a 15-inch screen and is equipped with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage; the second has a 17-inch screen and is available with 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage or 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
"Whether it's web browsing, streaming, or basic productivity tasks, the EnergyBook has you covered," Avenir said in its LinkedIn announcement.
In addition, the company says the EnergyBook Classic laptops come with long-term support and will stay updated "for years to come." For those looking for durability and long-term support, this model is still a good deal, but for a laptop priced at only $200, consumers should not have too high expectations in terms of performance. When marketing this low-end machine to customers, Avenir said that EnergyBook Classics uses energy-saving, durable components and materials and is durable. It also said that sustainability was taken into consideration when designing the laptop, using environmentally friendly materials and 100% recyclable packaging.
Energizer is no stranger to diversifying products beyond batteries, and this isn’t the first time Avenir has licensed the brand. The company has sold a number of "Energizer" smartphones over the years, with an emphasis on durability and battery life to live up to the brand's signature slogan: "It keeps going and going and going."
