Recently, Tsinghua University and Springer Nature jointly released the "International Science and Technology Innovation Center Index 2023" (GIHI2023) report and the "Nature Index-Research City 2023" supplementary report.It shows that Beijing ranks first in the global nature index scientific research city rankings and ranks third in the world as an international science and technology innovation center for two consecutive years.

As the world's "most" scientific research city, Beijing has achieved a series of outstanding scientific and technological innovation achievements, contributing nearly 20% of China's total share in the natural index.

The number of papers and contribution share are far ahead of the second-place New York metropolitan area in the United States, with indicators almost doubling.

Including Beijing, 10 cities in China rank among the top 20 global scientific research cities, an increase of 2 compared to last year.

Among them, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou and Wuhan ranked in the top ten.

Hefei, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Xi'an are in the queue from 11th to 20th.

In the GIHI2023 evaluation, San Francisco-San Jose, New York, and Beijing have maintained the top three positions for two consecutive years.

In addition, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ranked sixth and Shanghai ranked tenth. A total of 19 Chinese cities have entered the list of the world's top 100 international science and technology innovation centers.

Artificial intelligence technology patents have grown explosively since 2020, with the stock of artificial intelligence patents in Beijing and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area far surpassing Tokyo, ranking in the top two.
