According to estimates by foreign media VGChartz, PS5 will be the best-selling game console in the Americas (United States, Canada and Latin America) in August 2023, with 420,191 units sold. PS5’s career sales in the Americas are estimated to have reached 17.97 million units. In the Americas, Xbox Series X | S sales are estimated at 248,377 units, bringing its career sales to 13.56 million units.

NS sold 235,359 units, bringing its career sales to 4,958 million units. PS4 sales are estimated at 7,030 units, bringing its career sales to 41.51 million units.
Compared to the same month in 2016, PS5 sales were nearly 228,000 units higher than those of PS4, while Xbox Series X|S was down more than 83,000 units compared to Xbox One. In August 2016, PS4 sold 192,538 units, and Xbox One sales reached 331,430 units.
Compared with the same month last year, PS5 sales increased by 10,282 units (2.5%). Xbox Series X|S sales dropped by 54,030 units (-17.9%), and NS sales dropped by 109,130 units (-31.7%). PS4 sales increased by 2,718 units (62.0%) year-on-year.
Looking at monthly sales, PS5 sales increased by more than 106,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales increased by nearly 56,000 units, while Nintendo Switch sales dropped by nearly 67,000 units.
As of 2023, PS5 sales are estimated to be 3.85 million units, NS sales are estimated to be 3.05 million units, and Xbox Series X | S sales are estimated to be 2.01 million units.
