Tesla hit a major production milestone over the weekend, and Elon Musk posted a post congratulating the team. Tesla's official account on the X platform posted over the weekend: "This week, we produced our 5 millionth car - thank you Tesla owners for your continued support!"

Musk left a message under this post: "Congratulations to the Tesla team! That's a lot of cars."

Tesla's world's 5 millionth vehicle rolled off the assembly line at the Shanghai Gigafactory. It is a refreshed version of the Model 3 in pearl white. Earlier this month, the factory, which started operating in late 2019, produced its 2 millionth vehicle.

Tesla CEO Musk has said that the company aims to produce 20 million vehicles per year by 2030.

Tesla's goal this year is to deliver 1.8 million vehicles globally. Facing an uncertain economic situation, the company has been aggressively cutting prices to boost sales, triggering a chain reaction of price cuts within the industry.
