This afternoon, Huawei officially released a new generation of Hongmeng system-HarmonyOS 6. The features of the new version are better looking, easier to use, smarter, safer and smoother.In terms of UI design, 9 sets of desktop icons with different styles (covered with skeuomorphic and flat styles) have been added. The control center supports custom layout, and the light and shadow effects and dynamic transitions are more delicate.
The Ark engine has been fully upgraded. Through soft and hard core cloud system-level optimization, the smoothness is 15% higher than that of Hongmeng 5 after the upgrade, and 40% higher than that of Hongmeng 4 after the upgrade, bringing an experience of "second to start, second to second loading".
During live shopping, the speed from clicking to purchase to starting payment increased by 20%.It also supports game quick start for 15 games, and the startup speed is increased by 5 times, allowing a smooth and efficient experience to cover every usage scenario.
In terms of game experience, through the compilation of Ark Scheduling Engine and Duanyun Shader, the minimum frame rate of "Operation Delta" has been increased by 24% and can run continuously for 4 hours. "Genshin Impact" can be played for 4 hours on a full charge on the Mate70 Pro. 15+ popular games support the "second start" feature.
Equipped with the new Hongmeng Galaxy Internet architecture, the speed reaches 160MB/s, the latency and power consumption are reduced by 20%+, and it supports Wi-Fi 7 and StarLight technology to achieve millisecond-level data flow.
The live window has been further upgraded, the information display is richer, and it supports the card direct function.The 12306 live window allows you to view train numbers/seats and provide direct access to pick-up and drop-off services and meal reservations; the air travel live window has added weather animations to remind you of the sunset/moon-viewing scenery on the route, and can also be displayed on your watch and broadcast on your headphones.
Enhanced "touch and touch" function: supports "one touch and multiple sharing" (multiplayer game teaming, simultaneous file transfer across multiple devices), "mobile phone to computer" cross-end operation (60+ applications such as Xiaohongshu and WPS can quickly insert materials), Alipay's "touch and touch" smoothness has been improved by 30%, and it supports lock screen/screen off triggers.
Applications are continuously expanded, and 120+ applications support seamless flow across devices (such as watch music and tablet videos being connected to mobile phones). With the "hand-eyes together" function, it can automatically switch the keyboard and mouse focus of multiple devices.
In terms of intelligent experience, HarmonyOS 6 uses the Hongmeng Agent Framework (HMAF) to implement scenario-based active services based on the on-device AI computing power and Pangu and DeepSeek large models.
For example, curtains and lights can be automatically linked in the morning, car audio can be connected to mobile phone audio during commuting, tablets can intelligently call up tools at work, and the first batch of 80+ Hongmeng application smart phones have been launched, covering many fields.
Xiaoyi's capabilities have been upgraded and will support interaction in 16 dialects. It can automatically operate the APP to complete scheduled tasks (such as buying cat food regularly).It can also generate professional business plans, real-time meeting minutes (20 trillion-level processing power), and has a new video call explanation function.
The security of HarmonyOS 6 has also been further upgraded. The Star Shield security architecture supports real-time warning of privacy risks; the AI anti-peep function can recognize the gaze of others and automatically hide application content such as DingTalk and banking.
Supports encrypted sharing of videos, documents, recordings, etc. (not limited to channels), and sensitive information can only be viewed once; iris recognition is used for device unlocking and application authentication, and works with 2FA dual login to strengthen identity verification.
In terms of Internet experience, HarmonyOS 6 has also opened up the Apple ecosystem this time, and will support mutual transmission experience with iOS/iPadOS/macOS. No traffic is required, and data can be quickly transmitted in the near field.
In terms of the adaptation plan, the first batch of 90+ models will be gradually open for upgrade starting from October 22. Users can apply through "Settings-Software Update" or the "My Huawei" APP.
In mid-to-late November 2025, recent flagships such as the Pura 70 series and Mate 70 series will launch public testing; in early 2026, the scope will be expanded to cover classic models such as the Mate 60 series and Pura 60 series.
