Apple released iPadOS 17.2 early this morning, which includes most of the new features in iOS 17.2, such as information and music updates. More than a month after Apple released iPadOS 17.1, the next update has arrived. It doesn't have any iPadOS-specific features, but it does include some minor system tweaks, service updates, and a focus on bug fixes.

The biggest feature in this iOS 17.2 update cycle, "Notes," has not been launched on the iPad. Currently, only iPhone users can see it.

Apple services and apps get several tweaks and new features. AppleMusic has several new features, such as FocusFilter for switching recommendation engines.

The Apple Music collaboration feature was supposed to be launched in this version, but was delayed. The feature will allow users to share playlists, which can be edited by all participants.

AppleMusic’s new collections feature has been fleshed out. Users can choose whether or not favorite songs are automatically added to their library via a Settings toggle, and there's also a new Favorites playlist that contains all favorite songs.

New language model-based autocorrect feature shows inline predictions as you type. Users can turn off this inline prediction mode in Keyboard Settings, leaving suggestions in the predictive text field.

If a blocked contact is participating in a FaceTime group call, users will now receive a notification before joining.

The TV app has been redesigned to match the redesigned experience in tvOS 17.2. Channels and apps now appear in the sidebar and have equal status within the app.

The Messages app gets a sticker reaction, although it's not quite what users were hoping for. It simply places the sticker on the edge of the text bubble as if the user dragged the sticker there, rather than using the sticker as a reaction within the conversation.

For those who are particularly concerned about security, contact key verification is also available. Users now have an extra layer of security that allows both parties to verify each other’s identity.

To update to iPadOS 17.2, open the Settings app, then select General, then Software Update. If the update is available for your device, tap it and follow the on-screen instructions.
