OmniVision Group has released the industry's first ultra-low-power single-chip liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) small panel - the OP03021 LCOS panel, which is specially designed for the new generation of smart glasses. The OP03021 LCOS panel adopts an optical size of 0.26 inches and achieves a resolution of 1632 x 1536 under 90Hz field sequential input, helping the new generation of smart glasses achieve higher resolution and wider field of view (FoV).

Devang Patel, Marketing Director of IoT and Emerging Applications at OmniVision Group, said: “The new OP03021 LCOS microdisplay combines higher resolution, wider field of view and the energy efficiency advantages of a low-power single-chip design. This small, high-performance LCOS panel is the core configuration of smart glasses, helping to create a more fashionable, lightweight product that can be worn comfortably all day long. "
Karl Guttag, president of KGOnTech, said: "OP03021 LCOS uses 3.0 micron pixels and integrates the control circuit, frame buffer memory and MIPI receiver onto the silicon backplane, effectively reducing the overall size while significantly reducing power consumption, both of which are key elements in smart glasses design."
The OP03021 LCOS panel uses 3.0 micron pixels, achieves a resolution of 1632×1536 under 90 Hz field sequence input through the MIPI-C-PHY1-trio interface, and is packaged in a small-size FPCA package.
The product is now sampling and will be in mass production in the first half of 2026.
