OpenAI is introducing more granular personalization controls to ChatGPT, so users can now turn the chatbot up or down on their own to make the chatbot more "warm" or "friendly." The update, which starts rolling out this Friday, will allow users to choose between "more" and "fewer" traits, or keep the default settings.

In the new settings, users can also adjust the frequency with which ChatGPT uses emoticons, headings, and bullet lists to make the reply style more relevant to their personal preferences. After entering the ChatGPT application, click the menu in the upper left corner to open the profile page and select "Add Characteristics" in "Personalization" to find the relevant options. In addition, users can also preset the overall "personality" for the chatbot, such as choosing different styles such as more professional, more eccentric, friendly, cynical, etc. to match the needs of different scenarios.

This update also improves the usefulness of ChatGPT in email writing and editing, changing the previous "copy-paste round-trip" operation method. Users can now update and format text directly within the chat interface, and support highlighting a section of text and then explicitly asking ChatGPT to modify the section without having to repeatedly describe the part to be modified in additional prompts. This change is expected to improve the efficiency of email and document editing, making ChatGPT more like an embedded text assistant tool.
