Not long ago, MediaTek released the Dimensity 9300 chip. Currently, the X100 series is the first to launch this chip, and some models of the FindX7 series may also be equipped with 9300. On December 16, a senior whistleblower revealed that MediaTek wants to completely surpass Qualcomm Snapdragon on Dimensity 9400.

According to the official introduction, MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is a "flagship 5G generative AI mobile chip" that adopts a full large-core design, uses TSMC's new generation 4nm process, and has 22.7 billion transistors. The CPU adopts the 1×3.25GHz Cortex-X4+3×2.85GHz Cortex-X4+4×2.0GHzA720 architecture. Compared with the Dimensity 9200, the performance is improved by 15% under the same energy consumption, the multi-core peak performance is increased by 40%, and the energy consumption is reduced by 33% under the same performance.

According to reports, compared with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip, the CPU design of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip has certain changes. It does not use four X5 ultra-large cores, but retains the design of all large cores. At the same time, MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip still uses TSMC N3 platform, and the end customer is expected to be blue and green rice. Among them, referring to the previous generation models, Xiaomi’s Dimensity chip product may be the K series Ultra model of the Redmi brand.

The lack of an efficiency core means that the Dimensity 9400 may suffer from the same efficiency compromise as the 9300, but blogger Digital Chat Station pointed out on Weibo that the chip will be mass-produced on a 3nm process, and improvements in the manufacturing process mean that its thermal efficiency may also be improved. Thanks to TSMC's "N3E" manufacturing process, the 9400 may no longer require any efficiency core. We will wait and see about this change.

At the launch of the vivoX100 series, vivo stated that it was deeply involved in the research and development of Dimensity 9300. Another source said that vivo has a high say in MediaTek and has participated in the research and development of the Dimensity 9400 chip. Therefore, the pace and selection of subsequent products are basically one step ahead of competing products, and it needs to use contemporary flagship cores as sub-flagship cores.
