Samsung will release the Galaxy S26 series overseas on February 25.Now the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the extra-large cup version of the Galaxy S26 series, has obtained network access permission, and its model number is SM-S9480.Network access information is displayed. The phone will support eSIM, making it the first Ultra flagship in mainland China to support eSIM.
Up to now, many flagships in mainland China support eSIM, including iPhone Air, OPPO Find X9 Pro Satellite Communication Edition, Huawei Mate 80 RS, the upcoming Honor Magic8 Pro Air and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also support eSIM.
It is understood that the eSIM card embeds the chip of the traditional physical SIM card directly into the motherboard of the terminal device, without the need for a card. As long as the data is obtained from the operator through "over-the-air technology" (OTA) and activated, communication services can be used normally.
With eSIM technology, mobile phone designs will theoretically be thinner and lighter, and the eSIM chip is directly welded to the motherboard, making mobile phones more dustproof, waterproof, and vibration-resistant.
However, because eSIM has not been widely popularized yet, most models support both eSIM and retain physical SIM card slots. With the subsequent popularity of eSIM, the mobile phone industry is expected to completely abandon physical SIM card slots.
