A newsletter believes that a series of major changes are expected to occur in the iPad product line in 2024, including a large-screen iPad Air, faster standard and iPad mini models, and a revamp of the Pro series.
Apple's iPad lineup won't see any updates in 2023, with the last major change happening in October 2022. While 2023 will be a relatively lean year for its tablet lineup, Apple appears to be making plenty of plans for its 2024 tablet lineup.
Mark Gurman outlined the changes in his "PowerOn" newsletter for Bloomberg, writing that there will be significant changes to the series. In this list, iPad Pro is the first to undergo a facelift, but the specific content of the facelift is not mentioned.
Rumor has it that OLED display production for the iPad Pro will begin in February, which could lead to its release later this year and that the iPad Air will have a "larger screen option." Rumors about the model say the screen size could be 12.9 inches, which would be comparable to the larger iPad Pro.
He wrote that the iPad mini and entry-level iPads will be updated with "faster chips," which does seem likely given that the spec upgrades are the smallest changes Apple has ever made to a major product like the iPad series, and it's been more than a year since the last update.
Gurman's thoughts on Sunday were somewhat reminiscent of a statement he made on December 6. At the time, he discussed 12.9-inch iPad Air rumors, an OLED-equipped iPad Pro, and the new Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.
