According to the latest news from Energy Singularity,Recently, the local spiral magnetic flux injection system of the Honghuang 70 high-temperature superconducting tokamak device was successfully tested.
Local Helicity Injection system (LocalHelicityInjection) is an electric vacuum radiation source device, commonly known as an electron gun.
Its working principle is to break down the gas to generate electrons through high voltage between the cathode and anode, and extract the electron beam and inject it into the tokamak device.
In the Honghuang 70 device, the main function of the electron gun is to pre-ionize the gas and assist gas breakdown. At the same time, it can also inject spiral magnetic flux into the plasma through the electron beam to stimulate higher plasma current to achieve the purpose of current driving.
Compared with traditional thermal emission electron guns, the Honghuang 70 electron gun adopts a cold cathode design and has a more compact structure, which is conducive to concentrating electrons to increase the extraction current and avoids impurity problems caused by heating wires.
This electron gun was designed and developed by Energy Singularity. It adopts an innovative structural design and is only about the size of a shoe box. All key components are removable. It has a maximum draw current of 1000A and a breakdown voltage of 8kV. It has been authorized for an invention patent.
