Today Intel officially launched its new Xeon 600 series workstation processors codenamed "Granite Rapids-WS".Based on Intel 3 process technology and Redwood Cove+ performance core architecture, it replaces the previous generation Xeon W-3500/2500 product line.

Different from the previous generation's practice of distinguishing between mainstream and expert levels, Intel this time unified all products under the Xeon 600 brand.A total of 11 SKUs have been launched, divided into 6 overclockable models with an

Among them, the flagship model Xeon 698X adopts a dual computing core (XCC) design. It has 86 cores and 172 threads, 336MB L3 cache, a base frequency of 2.0GHz, a turbo frequency of up to 4.8GHz, and fully unlocked overclocking.

The sub-flagship 696X has 64 cores and 128 threads, also based on XCC cores. Models from 48 to 24 cores use HCC cores, and 20 cores and below use LCC cores.

In terms of performance, under the same power consumption, the 86-core Xeon 698X improves single-thread performance by 9% and multi-thread performance by up to 61% compared with the previous generation 64-core Xeon W3595X.

In terms of platform, the Xeon 600 is equipped with the W890 chipset, which supports 128 CPU direct connection PCIe 5.0 channels and 8-channel DDR5-6400 RDIMM memory, with a maximum capacity of 4TB.Added support for DDR5 MRDIMM memory, with speeds up to 8000MT/s.

With the Xeon 698X processor and ASUS Pro WS W890E-SAGE SE motherboard, both parties set new records in 10 benchmark test items recorded by HWBOT, including Geekbench4 multi-core, Geekbench5 multi-core, and Y-Cruncher (up to 28B).

In addition, the cooperation between the two parties achieved first place in 10 global benchmark tests, including Geekbench3 multi-core, Geekbench6 multi-core, Cinebench R20, Cinebench R23, Cinebench R15 and Y-Cruncher (up to 100B).

Intel said that the Xeon 600 series workstation processors will be available through OEM/system integrators and independent boxed processors starting in late March 2026.

The following SKUs will be available as stand-alone boxed retail versions: Intel Xeon 696X processor (64 cores), Intel Xeon 678X processor (48 cores), Intel Xeon 676X processor (32 cores), Intel Xeon 658X processor (24 cores), Intel Xeon 654 processor (18 cores).
