There are reports that the iPhone 18 series that Apple plans to launch this year will not have significant changes in appearance design, but will generally continue the overall shape of the current iPhone 17. The news came from Weibo user "Dingjiao Digital", who said that due to the satisfactory sales performance of the iPhone 17 series in the market, Apple has no motivation to make major appearance adjustments on the next generation of products.

The report pointed out that compared to changes in design, Apple is more likely to focus on performance upgrades in its promotions, especially the upcoming A20 and A20 Pro chips. These two chips are expected to be Apple's first self-developed processors using 2nm process technology, and are regarded as one of the core selling points of this year's new product launches.
Previously, the iPhone 17 Pro series underwent a major appearance adjustment after the two generations of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro continued to use similar appearances. Looking further ahead, the iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, and 14 Pro basically continue the same design language, and the iPhone X, XS, and 11 Pro are also highly similar in appearance. The report pointed out that if the flagship model undergoes an obvious redesign of the entire appearance for two consecutive generations, there is almost no precedent in the history of the iPhone product line, so the iPhone 18 Pro is highly likely to be highly similar to the current model.
In terms of functionality and configuration, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to debut later this year. It is rumored that they will be equipped with a smaller "Smart Island", upgrade to a C2 baseband chip, adopt a more simplified camera control button design, and introduce a 24-megapixel front camera and a main camera system with a variable aperture. The report also said that the lower-positioned iPhone 18 is not expected to be launched until early 2027, and will also inherit many of the above upgrades.
