Before the first content update of "Minecraft" in 2026 has officially landed, the first batch of features of this year's next wave of updates were announced in advance. In the official live broadcast event of "Minecraft" in March 2026, the official announced the "Chaos Cubed" update package. In addition to new blocks and creatures, there is also a blockbuster new feature that is destined to excite all adventure players: Sulfur Cave.
This new cave biome will revolutionize the spelunking experience as we know it. Here, you no longer encounter puddles and occasional lava flows, but you must always avoid the poisonous pool - once you get too close, you will be dizzy. What's particularly insidious is that the poisonous water only looks slightly different from ordinary water, rather than being immediately recognizable as poisonous liquids that should never be touched. In addition to these poison pools, this biome also has two new sets of exclusive blocks: cinnabar blocks and sulfur blocks.

The visual effect of the Sulfur Cave is also extremely stunning. The bright red and yellow colors completely break the main tone of gray rocks that we are used to seeing. According to the introduction of this live broadcast event, the design of this new biome is inspired by real-life sulfur hot springs, from the gas particles floating on the water to the impactful and bright colors, all are restored with reference.
Spelunking is naturally indispensable for all kinds of enemies, and this is when the game's new creature - the sulfur cube - appears. The official revealed during the announcement that this cube is currently the only creature in the game that has the ability to absorb blocks, and its properties will change according to the absorbed blocks. For example, if it absorbs ice, it will start sliding around; if it eats wood, it will turn into a spherical block. The full scope of these property changes has yet to be announced, but I can’t wait to explore the fun myself.
After the cave and cliff updates, I thought there was no room for upgrading the cave content in Minecraft. Today's caves are vast beyond imagination, and just a trip to the iron mines often takes much longer than expected. But now, with the addition of Sulfur Cave, I can foresee that these underground adventures will only become longer and more full of surprises.
