When driving an electric vehicle for a long distance, you must ensure that the battery is sufficient, because the remaining range of an electric vehicle is not as accurate as that of a gasoline vehicle. If an electric vehicle has low power and is traveling at high speed, some vehicles may experience a sudden power outage. According to reports, at around 12 noon on March 18, on the G60 Hangzhou-Jinqu Expressway in the direction of Hangzhou, a section 2 kilometers away from the Xiaoshan service area, a small electric vehicle suddenly stopped in the emergency lane.

Road surveillance showed that the driver then opened the door and got out of the car, leaving one person in the car to control the direction while he pushed the car at the rear.

Because of the dense traffic on the road section where the incident occurred, large high-speed trucks whizzed by, and a slight mistake could cause rear-end collisions, scratches and other accidents.

This scene was captured through public video by the police on duty in the General Service Room of the Second Expressway Brigade of the Hangzhou Public Security Traffic Control Detachment. The police immediately started the emergency response process:While contacting nearby police officers on duty to rush to the scene, they simultaneously docked the rescue trailer.

A few minutes later, the rescue trailer arrived at the scene, and the rescuers quickly transferred the vehicle and driver involved to the Puyang Toll Station safely.

According to the driver, the vehicle still had about 30% power, but suddenly a power outage occurred. Because it was only about two kilometers away from the Xiaoshan service area, he asked his wife to stay in the car and control the steering wheel, and got out of the car to push the car. He wanted to push the car to the service area before handling it.

The police gave him serious traffic safety education on the spot.In accordance with relevant laws and regulations, the driver's illegal behavior will be punished accordingly.

It is worth noting that the above driver’s experience is not an isolated case. There have been cases in many places in China of electric vehicles running out of battery life on the highway, and people on the vehicle getting out of the car to promote it. Some people even paid the price with their lives.

In such a situation, the vehicle should be parked in the emergency lane as soon as possible and a warning triangle should be placed 150 meters behind. The occupants should evacuate the vehicle as soon as possible and stand outside the road guardrail waiting for rescue.

In addition, since January this year, 23 provinces and cities in China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Guangdong, haveAll have launched a free towing policy within 50 kilometers of highways. For broken down vehicles, they can be towed to exits/service areas/designated points for free. Qualified car owners can tow for free.
