Google is raising the subscription price of YouTube Premium in the US market. The monthly fee for multiple packages will increase by up to US$4. The new price system has taken effect for new users. According to the adjusted prices, YouTube Premium’s various packages in the United States are charged as follows:

Personal package: US$15.99 per month, an increase of US$2 from the previous US$13.99.
Family plan: $26.99 per month, an increase of $4 from the previous $22.99.
Lite plan: US$8.99 per month, an increase of US$1 from the previous US$7.99.
This is the second time YouTube has raised Premium prices in recent years. Previously, the family package has increased from $17.99 per month to $22.99 in 2022; in 2023, the individual package has also increased from $11.99 to $13.99 per month. The Lite low-price package has been launched for about a year, and added functions such as background playback and offline downloads earlier this year.
At present, some existing YouTube Premium users have begun to receive email notifications about the price increase, but Google has not yet widely announced the price increase to the public. In some accounts that subscribe to the family package, the old price of $22.99 is still displayed on the page, but many users have reported receiving price increase emails. According to the notice, the new prices are expected to take effect starting from the June 2026 billing cycle.
Google said in an email to users that in order to "continue to provide high-quality services and features", it will increase the price to $15.99 per month. It said that such decisions will not be made lightly, but this adjustment will help continue to improve the Premium service and support creators and artists to create content. The email also mentioned that users will see price changes on the billing date of June 7, 2026.
The report pointed out that from the perspective of magnitude, this price increase is not an extreme case. Taking the streaming media industry as a reference, Netflix has recently raised its subscription prices again, with individual packages also rising by about $2. This is already its second price increase in less than two years. However, for users, rising subscription costs may still cause dissatisfaction.
For users who are unwilling to accept the new price, Premium subscriptions can be managed through the YouTube Membership page, and users can choose to cancel the subscription or pause the subscription for up to six months. For personal package users, if they choose the annual payment method, they can save about 15% on the annual fee of US$159.99, which translates into a monthly expenditure of slightly more than US$13.
