At noon on April 16, BMW China’s official account recently released a promotional video titled “The car hasn’t been built yet, but it will run millions of kilometers first.” This was interpreted by the outside world as implying that some car companies rely only on virtual simulations and real-vehicle road tests to launch the product not long after.

The beginning of the video shows a scene in which a car travels through various extreme environments on the simulator screen. When the camera zooms out, it is just a video played on a computer screen. The staff even used hair dryers and watering cans to simulate wind and rain. It alludes to the behavior of some car companies that, in pursuit of speed to market, have lax testing procedures or even commit fraud.

BMW China also stated in the text, "Safety is BMW's unwavering bottom line. Millions of kilometers of rigorous testing allow potential risks to be foreseen in advance. Double rigorous verification in virtual and reality is just to enjoy pure driving pleasure when you step on the accelerator. Safety starts long before you sit in the driver's seat."
