Singapore's financial regulator is urging banks to plug cybersecurity holes as concerns about Anthropic PBC's latest artificial intelligence (AI) model, Mythos, spread to Asia. In response to inquiries about the risks posed by Mythos, a spokesman for the Monetary Authority of Singapore said the Monetary Authority was coordinating with the country's cybersecurity agency to strengthen the defense capabilities of critical infrastructure operators, including banks.

Mythos is a new AI model launched by Anthropic, which the company has deemed "too dangerous" for widespread release.
"Financial institutions need to redouble their efforts to strengthen security defense lines, proactively identify and patch vulnerabilities, and improve network security habits, including timely security patch updates," the spokesperson said. The spokesperson added that advances in artificial intelligence will "accelerate the discovery and exploitation of software vulnerabilities in IT systems."
The Cyber Security Authority of Singapore issued a document on April 15, warning about the risks that cutting-edge AI models may bring, but did not directly name Mythos.
