Qualcomm Technologies today officially released the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 mobile platform and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 mobile platform, further expanding its product line in the mid-range mobile SoC market, focusing on improving performance, battery life and connectivity experience in real-life usage scenarios. Officials said that these two platforms focus on the key technologies that users most often rely on, while enhancing overall performance while taking into account power consumption control, bringing longer battery life to smartphones equipped with relevant platforms.

The two new platforms introduce the Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI function for the first time, aiming to improve interaction smoothness through system-level optimization and reduce the lag during navigation and animation. With this support, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 can increase application startup speed by 20% and reduce screen freezes by 18%, providing a more immersive and stable user experience. Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, which is aimed at the more entry-level segment, focuses on "all-day smoothness", which brings a 43% increase in application startup speed in terms of basic performance and reduces screen freezes by 25%, allowing mid- to low-priced models to have interactive performance closer to that of high-end machines in daily use.

In terms of specific positioning, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is aimed at users who want more high-end features at mid-range prices. The platform integrates a number of AI-powered imaging and camera features to intelligently optimize photo imaging quality and provide a richer gaming and multimedia experience. With the new Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0, this platform can better balance performance and power consumption in long-term gaming scenarios. Officials claim that GPU performance can be improved by up to 21%, maintaining excellent battery life while ensuring graphics performance, and supporting high-speed 5G and Wi-Fi 7 network connections.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is designed as an entry-level mid-range platform that “prioritizes daily experience”, emphasizing stable and reliable performance and convenient connectivity. According to data given by Qualcomm, its GPU performance can be increased by up to 77%, and for the first time, it has introduced game support up to 90 FPS on the Snapdragon 4 series platform, bringing a richer gaming and multimedia experience space to models in this price range. The platform also supports 5G + 5G/4G dual-card dual-pass (DSDA). Users can stay online at the same time between two SIM cards to meet the needs of parallel use of multiple networks and multiple identities.

Yan Chengwei, senior vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, said that through Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, Qualcomm hopes to expand the boundaries of what users can expect from smartphones and provide a more attractive comprehensive experience solution while taking into account performance and battery life. He pointed out that the two platforms were designed around the three core dimensions of performance, energy efficiency and connectivity to help partners launch smartphone products with "next-generation experience" in a wider price range.

Li Junze, vice president of Xiaomi Mobile and general manager of the smartphone product department, said that long-term cooperation with Qualcomm Technologies enables Xiaomi to continue to bring meaningful innovation to users at various price segments. He said that Xiaomi looks forward to using these two new Snapdragon platforms in a number of upcoming new phones to enhance users' daily use experience through smoother interactions, stronger performance, better energy efficiency ratio and stable network connections.
