Following the Galaxy ExosX24, Seagate recently released the world's second 24TB ultra-large-capacity mechanical hard drive. This time it belongs to the SkyHawkAI series of artificial intelligence and is mainly targeted at video imaging applications (VIA) in the edge and security fields. Seagate Cool Eagle AI24TB hard drive adoptsCMR traditional magnetic recording technology, helium-filled design, cache 512MB,Maximum data transfer rate 285MB/s, the average read and write power consumption is 7.8W, the idle power consumption is 6.3W, and the standby power consumption is 1.1W.
The hard drive can intelligently adapt to the user’s AI environment expansion. It supports up to 64 high-definition video streams and 32 AI streams, can capture up to 120 AI real-time events per second, compare 96 AI real-time events, and supports 10,000 hours of video and analysis.
It also uses ImagePerfectAI firmware to support AI all-weather security with zero frame loss.
As an enterprise-level solution, this hard drive has extremely high reliability. The mean time between failures is 2.5 million hours, and the maximum write load is 550TB per year, which is 3 times that of ordinary VIA hard drives and 10 times that of desktop hard drives. It also provides a 5-year limited warranty and 3-year data recovery service.
Seagate also provides the SkyHawk Health Management function that is compatible with NVR network video recorder systems to proactively monitor the environment and usage conditions and provide preventive measures when necessary.
Seagate Cool Eagle AI hard drive also has different capacity versions such as 20TB, 16TB, and 12TB.
