Recently, a component list information from a domestic second-hand trading website has attracted widespread attention. A Nintendo Switch 2 screen module labeled as a new model has been exposed. Its specifications are significantly different from the parts used in the current mass-produced model, suggesting that Nintendo may be preparing a modified Switch 2 model.

According to original reports from Nintendo Patents Watch, this screen module appeared on a Chinese second-hand trading platform in late June 2026. The circuit, connectors and cable layout of this module are different from the Innolux display that Switch2 has been using since its release in June 2025. A more critical clue lies in its model number "LS079T1SX10P", which does not match any currently known parts.
Report analysis believes that according to Sharp's product naming convention, the logo may correspond to a 7.9-inch, 1080p resolution LTPS (low temperature polysilicon) LCD panel.

The credibility of this finding stems in part from recent official developments from Sharp. In investor materials released in May 2026, Sharp disclosed that the operating losses of its display device division have narrowed and it plans to expand panel sales at the Baishan plant for mobile and industrial applications. Although the material does not directly mention Nintendo or Switch 2, industry insiders generally believe that its wording is consistent with the direction of expanding the supply of game console panels.
It is worth noting that Sharp was considered as one of the potential panel suppliers more than a year before the official release of Switch 2. Although the Switch 2 ultimately used a screen module assembled by Innolux, reports indicate that the LCD module may actually have used Sharp's LTPS glass substrate. Therefore, the new panel exposed this time may not represent a revolutionary screen upgrade, but is more likely to be a change on the supply chain side - that is, adjustments to the assembler, procurement sources, or internal layout.

From a business logic point of view, Nintendo has launched a variety of modified models such as enhanced battery life, Switch Lite, and OLED models during the Switch's life cycle. It is not impossible for Switch 2 to continue this product strategy. However, Switch2 is still in the second year of its life cycle (as of June 5, 2026), and has not launched any major consumer-oriented version so far, with only a few hardware adjustments.

There are also views that Nintendo may just add a second panel supplier to the existing production line. However, since the current supply of Innolux does not seem to be tight and does not restrict the scale of mass production, this possibility is relatively low. At the same time, the continued price increase in the DRAM memory market has become the main reason for the increase in the price of Switch 2 in many places around the world. This may also be one of the reasons why Nintendo is considering adjusting its hardware plan.
At present, Nintendo has not officially responded to the above rumors, and the final form of the new Switch 2 model still needs to be verified later.
