SpaceX's artificial intelligence company xAI has officially changed its name to SpaceXAI, and has simultaneously launched a new brand logo and social media account updates, marking the final step of integration of the AI ​​company founded by Elon Musk after it was integrated into the SpaceX system. In February this year, SpaceX completed the acquisition of xAI, which included its flagship chatbot Grok and businesses related to the X platform, unifying Musk's core assets in the three fields of aerospace, artificial intelligence and social media under the same structure.

On Monday this week, xAI’s account on social platform Musk publicly stated as early as May this year that xAI will no longer exist as an independent company, and its team and products will be fully integrated into SpaceX. In the future, related AI businesses will be unified and operated externally under the SpaceXAI brand.

The rebranding comes on the heels of SpaceX’s blockbuster IPO in June this year. The company, famous for its rocket launches and space exploration, set a record for scale when it went public, raising $75 billion in financing and being valued at about $1.77 trillion. For a time, Musk briefly became the world's first entrepreneur with a net worth exceeding one trillion U.S. dollars. Different from the public's inherent impression of its "aerospace company", SpaceX disclosed its huge investment in the field of artificial intelligence in IPO-related documents, highlighting that AI has become one of the core pillars of the company's long-term strategy.

According to SpaceX’s public documents, its capital expenditures on artificial intelligence will reach $12.7 billion in 2025, more than three times the investment in aerospace and connectivity businesses (including satellite Internet service Starlink) during the same period. Although the AI ​​business is still at a net loss, the company believes that this sector has the greatest growth potential, and even described the market size it can cover in the document as "the largest in human history." SpaceX plans to deploy so-called "AI computing satellites" as early as 2028, which is infrastructure that places data centers directly in space orbit to provide computing power support for its AI business.

At the infrastructure level, SpaceX has won a number of large-scale AI computing collaborations. Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month to obtain computing power access to its Colossus data center; Google has reached an agreement with SpaceX to pay approximately $920 million per month for the use of enterprise-level AI computing power. With the official retirement of the xAI brand and the full launch of the SpaceXAI name, the synergy between SpaceX's three main business lines of orbital transportation, satellite communications and artificial intelligence infrastructure will be further strengthened. Musk is also using this brand integration to clearly send a signal to the outside world: SpaceX is no longer just a company that sends rockets into space, it is trying to put future AI computing capabilities into orbit.
