Hideo Kojima tweeted today to wish players a happy New Year. In his New Year message, Kojima said that this year he will simultaneously develop "Death Stranding 2" and the new IP "OD" announced at TGA. According to Kojima, the development of "Death Stranding 2" is suspected to be coming to an end. He said that there is still some dubbing work left for "Death Stranding 2" and Japanese dubbing will begin this year.
Kojima said that he wants to focus on developing games, so he will reduce business travel this year, but he also said that shooting OD, cooperating with Avengers, adapting "Death Stranding" into a movie and other video projects cannot be avoided.
At The Game Awards 2023 held in Los Angeles, USA on December 8 last year, Kojima Studio announced that it was producing its latest work "OD" and released an official trailer. This is the first time that Kojima Productions has collaborated with Xbox Game Studios to launch a work.
The trailer also announced the cast, including Sophia Lillis ("Dungeons & Dragons: Honor of Thieves"), Hunter Schafer ("Euphoria") and Udo Kier ("The Walking Dead (1973)").
As a Hideo Kojima work, "OD" will explore the concept of "testing the threshold of fear." Like Hideo Kojima's other works, he will be responsible for planning, screenwriting and game design in this game. Oscar-winning film director Jordan Peele will participate as one of the creative partners. This work will be co-produced by multiple creators.
Regarding the release of "OD", Hideo Kojima said: "We are working with Xbox Game Studios to use Xbox's cloud technology to create a very unique, immersive, and new-style game, or a 'new media'. This work will be a game and a movie at the same time.
