Samsung has officially announced that it will release the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra at Galaxy Unpacked 2024. Oddly, the news was pushed through Samsung Australia's account on the X, rather than via a press release, where the date and time were shared.
For those interested, Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will begin at 5am AEDT on January 18. If calculated according to Pacific Standard Time (PST), the event will be held on January 17, which is what earlier rumors predicted. But it's likely that some retailers in Brazil didn't get the memo from Samsung, as they started selling the Galaxy S24 Ultra much earlier than the scheduled date.
According to Samsung's plan, the Galaxy S24 series will be officially released on January 17, and Samsung will launch pre-orders shortly after the official release. This is exactly the same as the release of the Galaxy S23. Samsung intends to provide pre-order incentives to early users like last year, providing twice the storage space at the same price, while discounting Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds FE. However, these incentives are only for Korean consumers, which means Samsung also plans to introduce other freebies and offers, depending on where the customer lives.
Expect the company to delve into some of the AI features of the Galaxy S24 models at the Galaxy Unpacked event, with previous Walmart listings sharing plenty of details. The trailer also mentioned that "Galaxy AI is coming", which may be related to generative artificial intelligence, but due to the stringent requirements for storage and memory, we have not heard that the company will introduce device-based LLM on the Galaxy S24 series, so we can only wait for the official announcement to learn more.
