Plans for ambitious new supertall skyscrapers in Oklahoma City have been unveiled. If the project is completed as scheduled, it will be the second-tallest skyscraper in the United States and the second-tallest in the entire Western Hemisphere. Bricktown's Boardwalk skyscraper, designed by AO Architects for developers Matteson Capital and Thinkbox, is part of a larger development in the city centre.

The main building will be 1,750 feet (533.4 meters) tall when completed. From this perspective, it is only 26 feet (nearly 8 meters) away from the current tallest building in the United States, One World Trade Center (One World Trade Center), which is 1,776 feet (541.3 meters) tall, symbolizing the year the United States Declaration of Independence was written in 1776. The new skyscraper will be ranked eighth in the world rankings, second only to the KPF-designed Guangzhou CTF Financial Center.

The building will be primarily residential and include 1,776 apartments, a hotel and some retail, entertainment and dining options. Additionally, the renderings reveal that it will include three smaller towers at its base.

Bricktown's Boardwalk is primarily a residential skyscraper, but will also include hotel, entertainment, retail and restaurant space

AO explained: "Boardwalk at Bricktown will deliver exciting contemporary design and rich mixed-use experiences at the heart of a vibrant entertainment district. The bold development covers over three acres (1.21 hectares) with over 2 million sq ft of residential, hotel, retail, dining and entertainment space." "

We have no official word yet on when construction on the Brick Town Banqiao skyscraper is expected to begin, although local newspaper The Oklahoman reports that the first phase of the larger development, which will include some apartments, a hotel, and retail and restaurant space, will begin this year.
