Apple has a plan for how to make sure technology reviewers know about Apple Vision Pro, and it now has a timeline. When Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, it was so weak in the market that the company sent review units to anyone willing to write about it. Now with Apple Vision Pro, everything has changed, and Apple's goal is to do everything possible to ensure the best media perception.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is also trying to control how and when reviewers view and use Vision Pro.
It's not uncommon for Apple to provide hands-on briefings to reviewers, but it's unusual to provide two briefings to each reporter. But it is reported that the first reviewer meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, with follow-up meetings taking place a week later.
Apple obviously has no control over what any reviewer says about the VisionPro. But it ensures that no one gives it a bad review because they put it on wrong, forgot to plug in the battery, or missed a key feature.
Additionally, by holding meetings with reviewers before they try out the VisionPro, Apple can make sure everyone has the correct lenses. This is also why the VisionPro is no longer available as a complete off-the-shelf purchase, as it may require adjustments with corrective or prescription optical lenses.
