The death of physical games seems to be accelerating. Since BestBuy, a world-renowned home appliance retailer, announced last year that it would give up selling related products such as DVDs, Blu-ray discs and physical game discs in physical stores and online malls, another large department store, Walmart, seems to be giving up related businesses.

Recently, a Twitter user posted a photo online, which revealed that Walmart will take measures against the physical game disk of "Starry Sky", either selling it at a very low price of US$0.03, or directly destroying it.

Later, a Walmart employee confirmed in the Resetera forum that the photo circulated on Twitter was real and that the screen shot was from the Me@Walmart app, which is an app only available to Walmart employees.

The user named Rychu later confirmed that the notice that the "Starry Sky" game disc would be sold for $0.03 was real, but players could not actually purchase it. Rychu also mentioned that "Walmart has been talking about canceling physical games for at least the past year, and Best Buy recently canceled physical movie sales. This specific notice of claim is related to Starfield, but that doesn't mean it won't eventually expand to other things. This is just the beginning."

Of course, until Walmart gives official news, everything can only be regarded as a rumor.
