[Ten years after the completion of "China Sky Eye" FAST will continue to promote the second phase of FAST project] September 23rd, September 25, 2016, the 500-meter aperture spherical radio telescope FAST was completed and opened in Guizhou. From September 22 to 24, the “FAST 10th Anniversary Academic Exchange Meeting” was held in Pingtang County, Guizhou Province. The reporter learned from this academic exchange meeting that FAST has achieved a series of landmark innovations since its launch, and has made many achievements in the fields of engineering technology, cutting-edge science, and applications. Technological innovations in measurement and control technology methods, development of domestically produced steel wire ropes and high-performance receivers ensure the stable and efficient operation of the telescope. It has achieved a series of scientific results with international influence in the research of pulsars, neutral hydrogen galaxies, fast radio bursts and gravitational waves, and has become one of the most important astronomical observation equipment in the world. Important progress has been made in application fields such as cis-lunar space target detection, pulsar time reference, and asteroid defense, serving national aerospace security and major strategic needs. So far, based on FAST observation data, scientists have published a total of 13 papers in the main international academic journals "Science" and "Nature". Relevant results have been selected twice as one of the top ten scientific breakthroughs by Science, once as one of the top ten scientific discoveries by Nature, and ten times as one of the top ten scientific advances in China, and among the top ten scientific and technological progress news in China. After ten years of hard work, the FAST team has promoted a historic leap in the field of radio astronomy in China, completing a leap-forward development from following and catching up to leading the world.
