[Infineon’s US$1.44 billion Thai semiconductor factory will be put into operation on October 1st] September 26th, German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies will officially open the Thai semiconductor factory on October 1st. The project investment exceeds 48 billion baht (equivalent to US$1.44 billion) to help Thailand build a more advanced local chip industry. The Investment Commission of Thailand issued a press release on Friday evening stating that this investment covers power module manufacturing, semiconductor testing and a research and development center. The Thai factory will produce power modules for electric vehicles, energy systems and data centers. The project is expected to employ more than 5,000 local Thai employees.
