Abstract:
my country's new generation communication network core technology has recently made major breakthroughs. One-way transmission of a thousand-kilometer signal takes only 3.43 milliseconds. Related indicators directly set a new world record in the field of hollow-core optical fiber real-time transmission.
According to technicians participating in the test, this test achieved for the first time synchronous transmission of signals of 64Tb per second in both directions on a commercial optical fiber line with a total length of 1,007.48 kilometers. This is equivalent to completing the upload and download of 160 50GB capacity 4K movies per second at the same time. The transmission efficiency has reached a height that was previously unreachable by traditional solutions. A one-way transmission of a 1,000-kilometer signal only takes 3.43 milliseconds.
This new hollow-core optical fiber transmission solution directly doubles the total transmission capacity and extends the non-relay transmission distance by 60% compared to the conventional solid-core optical fiber with the best performance in current commercial scenarios.
If compared with the public data of the same type of hollow-core optical fiber transmission test around the world, the effective transmission distance verified this time is directly increased by 50 times.
Thanks to the unique characteristics of using gas as a medium to transmit optical signals inside hollow-core optical fiber, the signal delay of hollow-core optical fiber can be reduced by 30% compared with traditional solid-core optical fiber under the same transmission distance. The advantage of low latency will be further amplified as the transmission distance is lengthened.
The complete success of this test has confirmed that hollow-core optical fiber technology can directly form long-distance, large-capacity, and low-latency super transmission capabilities on the premise of reusing most of the existing transmission equipment. This is equivalent to reserving the core underlying communication technology base in advance for the construction of a national integrated computing network that is being fully promoted in China.
The implementation of this technology has completely broken the performance ceiling in the global optical fiber communications field in the past. The low-latency and large-bandwidth transmission characteristics can not only supplement the core shortcomings of communication links for the Eastern Digital and Western Computing Projects, but will also clear the technical obstacles that have been stuck on the communication side in the future for emerging scenarios such as remote industrial control, autonomous driving, and ultra-high-definition real-time interaction that require extremely high latency.
