Abstract:
On the afternoon of September 6, local time, a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane with the Amazon Air logo overran the runway during landing at Miami International Airport in the United States and collided with a vehicle near the airport, causing a fire and a large amount of smoke. After the accident, the airport temporarily suspended flight operations, and a large number of firefighting and rescue personnel rushed to the scene to deal with the incident.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that the flight involved was cargo flight 7598 operated by 21 Air. It took off from Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico that day, and overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport at approximately 2 p.m. local time. The FAA has said it will investigate the accident.
The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department dispatched more than 60 rescue units to the scene. When rescuers arrived, the plane was on fire and filled with smoke. Video circulated at the scene showed an Amazon logo on the tail of the plane and a large amount of black smoke continuing to emit from the accident site.
Many people were injured in the accident. The specific extent of damage and the condition of the injured have not yet been determined.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel later said that Amazon confirmed that an Amazon Air cargo plane operated by 21 Air had an accident during landing at Miami International Airport. The company said it is still collecting relevant information and is working closely with local authorities to identify the cause of the accident. Amazon stated that its current top priority is the safety, health and follow-up care of all personnel involved, and will provide necessary support to those affected.
