Apple calls demand for iPhone Duo "extraordinary" and official website delivery has been scheduled to 2027

📅 2026-10-17

Abstract:

Apple said that the pre-order demand for its first foldable screen phone iPhone Duo is "extraordinary" and that the company is working hard to get the product into the hands of consumers as soon as possible. Pre-orders opened at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on October 16, U.S. Within minutes after the sale started, the delivery date displayed on Apple’s official website was gradually postponed from October 23; by around 5:30 a.m. that day, the estimated delivery time had been scheduled to January 25, 2027.

As of the time of the report, consumers are no longer able to place orders through Apple’s official website and receive iPhone Duo in 2026, and new orders are not expected until early 2027. Apple has yet to announce pre-order numbers, initial inventory size or sales of each configuration, so "extraordinary demand" is the company's description of the market response and is not accompanied by specific sales figures.

Apple did not specify how much of the delivery delay was due to strong demand and how much was related to supply constraints. There have been previous supply chain reports that the machine has encountered challenges in the ramp-up stage of mass production, including issues with assembly yield and the supply of foldable screen and hinge components. These situations have not yet been confirmed by Apple, which also means that the current long waiting time cannot be used alone as proof of sales volume. In the past, Apple has digested the backlog of orders in advance for some new products in the early stages of launch, but it is still uncertain whether they can be shipped in advance this time.

Apple has not confirmed whether it will be available in stores when it is officially launched on October 23. The official website reminds users that they can check the store pickup inventory again on October 24. It shows that there may be a small amount of inventory available for in-store pickup at the beginning of the launch, but the quantity and specific location are still unclear.

iPhone Duo is available in four capacities: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. The US price starts at US$1,999, with the highest configuration being US$3,199. Apple said that the company is stepping up supply; however, many consumers may still have to wait for several months before the official launch and more inventory information is released.
