Apple’s upcoming new generation of HomePod mini has been exposed for the first time through internal code. The latest information shows that this smart speaker, which has been updated for many years, will continue the existing design language, while bringing a new color scheme and preparing for future Siri artificial intelligence functions.
According to product information found in Apple's internal code, the new device is clearly labeled "HomePod mini 2." The official product icons and renderings exposed at the same time show that Apple has not made major adjustments to the appearance of the product, and the overall design will still use the same spherical design as the current HomePod mini.
Judging from the information currently exposed, HomePod mini 2 will be available in five color options: green, pink, blue, white and black. Among them, green and pink return to the product lineup, while the blue version adopts a new hue different from the current model, and the overall color is brighter and softer than the existing blue.
In contrast, the HomePod mini currently on sale is available in yellow, orange, blue, white and midnight colors. Therefore, while retaining some classic colors, the new generation of products also re-adjusts the overall color system.
The leaked content comes from Apple's own software code. Not only does the name HomePod mini 2 appear in the relevant documents, but it also contains complete product images, so it is generally believed that Apple is close to the official release stage.
HomePod mini was originally released in October 2020, and was initially available in white and space gray versions. As Apple's smart speaker product for the mass market, it adopts a spherical body design covered with fabric, and is equipped with a backlit touch panel on the top for media playback and volume adjustment.
Existing products are equipped with S5 chips, which optimize sound output through computational audio technology. They are also equipped with full-range drive units, dual passive radiators and acoustic diversion structures to achieve 360-degree surround sound effects.
