Abstract:
iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable screen mobile phone. Apple has announced pre-order and launch arrangements: pre-orders will be opened at 5 a.m. on October 16, U.S. time, and sales will begin on October 23; the first batch of pre-orders covers more than 70 countries and regions, and another 28 countries and regions will be on sale from October 30. The starting price in the US market is US$1,999, with four capacities of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, priced at US$1,999, US$2,199, US$2,599 and US$3,199 respectively. The body is available in starry white and night sky colors.

This device adopts a book-style folding structure. When unfolded, it is equipped with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED internal screen with a resolution of 1878×2670 and a pixel density of 430ppi. When closed, it uses a 5.4-inch external screen with a resolution of 1398×2034 and 460ppi. The actual diagonal dimensions given by Apple according to standard rectangular measurements are 7.58 inches and 5.36 inches respectively. The rounded corner area will make the actual viewing area slightly smaller. Both screens support up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, ProMotion, always-on display, HDR and Smart Island; the inner screen uses a nano-textured surface to reduce environmental reflections.
The phone is equipped with the A20 Pro chip, including a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and dual 16-core neural network engines, and has hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The body size is 164.6×117.8×5.2 mm in the unfolded state, and 84.1×117.8×11.3 mm when folded. It weighs 254 grams. The exterior is made of titanium metal structure and is equipped with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and rear. The protection level is IP68. Apple indicates that it can stay in water up to 6 meters deep for up to 30 minutes under experimental conditions, but the waterproof capability may decrease with wear and tear.
The imaging system consists of two 48-megapixel rear cameras, one for the main camera and one for an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree viewing angle. The main camera supports sensor-shift optical image stabilization, and can achieve an equivalent 2x optical quality telephoto, and a digital zoom of up to 10x. The external screen has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera on the front, while the internal screen uses an under-screen FaceTime camera. In terms of video, the main camera supports up to 4K Dolby Vision recording, with a maximum frame rate of up to 120fps; the body also provides dual-camera preview and other exclusive functions for folding screens.
The battery adopts a dual-cell architecture. Apple claims that typical battery life is up to 24 hours; video playback is up to 44 hours on the external screen and 31 hours on the internal screen. USB-C wired charging with an optional 60W or higher power adapter can charge to 50% in about 20 minutes; MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging support up to 25W. The phone supports dual eSIM and is not compatible with physical SIM cards.
Apple also launched an iPhone Duo protective case and a folding protective case with a stand, priced at US$79 and US$129 respectively. They are available in different colors and support MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging. Apple said that iPhone Duo will be pre-installed with iOS 27.1; however, Siri AI will not be available in the EU market at the initial stage, and some Apple Intelligence functions will also vary depending on region and language.
