Abstract:
Apple may have applied for the "HomeView" trademark for future smart home products through a company called Home Services LLC. Public trademark records combed by MacRumors show that the company submitted applications in the United States and multiple countries and regions in March 2025; the priority date of the relevant international application can be traced back to September 2024, and was originally filed in Liechtenstein.
Public information lists the applicant as Home Services LLC, with its registered address in Wilmington, Delaware, but there is no document proving that the company is owned by Apple or applied on behalf of Apple, so Apple's relationship with the trademark remains speculative.
The scope of goods listed in the application is very consistent with smart home hubs, including computers, software, monitors, interactive touch screens, cameras, hardware for controlling lighting, appliances, HVAC, doorbells and security alarms, as well as home automation hubs, smart home hubs, voice recognition equipment and residential security monitoring systems. This makes HomeView a possible name for Apple's rumored home hub, but the product list of the trademark application is relatively wide, and it cannot be concluded that Apple will definitely use it for a specific device.
This application is close to the time when another company with a similar name, Home Operations Suite LLC, filed a trademark application for "homeOS". MacRumors believes both companies may be shell companies used by Apple to protect unreleased product names. Apple did apply for the "visionOS" trademark through similar companies in the past, and the name later became the operating system name of Apple Vision Pro; but Apple also applied for "xrOS" but ultimately did not adopt it. Therefore, even if HomeView and homeOS are both related to Apple, there is no confirmation that they will become the final product and system names.
Apple has announced that it will hold a "Welcome Home" product launch event on October 13, which is expected to focus on smart home hubs and other home products. However, Apple has not yet confirmed that HomeView or homeOS will be used in new products; trademark applications only show that the company intends to protect a certain name and related products, and does not mean that the brand has been finalized or that the product is about to be launched.
